Quality Assurance Supervisor

Summary: Baugher Ranch Organics (BRO) ensures that all employees carrying out work that can affect product quality and safety are adequately qualified, trained, instructed and supervised commensurate with their activity and are demonstrably competent to carry out their tasks. All employees are responsible for food safety and quality. All staff is briefed to report any food safety or quality concerns.

Under the direct supervision of the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Assurance Supervisor will carry out the following essential duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES Job Tasks/Duties (not all inclusive):

  • Participate in all inspections – Organic, Doalnara, Food Safety, and Kosher certifications
  • Develop, implement, review and maintain the SQF system
  • Sample, inspect, and perform quality test on products
  • Laboratory communications
  • Product hold and release log
  • Monitor and maintain pest control program
  • Communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF system
  • Develop, maintain and keep current all supplier and ingredient certifications.
  • Maintain organized filing system to ensure all information is readily available at any time to support company needs.
  • Work closely with production personnel to identify problems and corrective actions.
  • Responsible for oversight, assistance and review of all quality audits performed by external parties.
  • Implement and manage Validation and Verification activities towards the Food Safety and Quality programs.
  • Responsible for continuing maintenance of HACCP, SSOP and GMPs for the facility.
  • Ensure that company product "hold" policies and procedures are communicated to plant staff and that the plant adheres to the procedures. Recommends, as appropriate, the suspension of product or the release of product when quality standards are not achieved.
  • Participate in GMP, sanitation, and safety inspections throughout the production departments and correct or issues work orders to correct any identified deficiencies. Follow up on work orders with the appropriate associates to ensure expeditious performance of the requested work.
  • Review and closure of corrective and preventive actions taken towards nonconformities found during the internal audits and making sure the quality system is continually improving.
  • Ensure that product safety, quality and traceability protocols are in place for all products by ensuring appropriate controls are in place, including documentation.
  • Supervise and train Quality Control staff in a manner which will result in an informed, trained, and effective team.
  • Ensure all employees follow GMP policies.
  • Identify weaknesses in Food Safety and Quality Systems and work to provide resolutions.
  • Assist with Vendor/Supplier approval
  • Handle all nonconformance related to vendors/suppliers.
  • Lead the investigation of complaints and reports to customers on a timely basis.
  • Monitor vendors through nonconformance trends and external audits to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Manage all documentation, review and approve daily.
  • Prepare Certificates of Analysis
  • Manage and create all employees training on a routine schedule.
  • Ensure product specifications are met and production is consistent with approved product.
  • Verify and validate ongoing procedures for shipping and receiving quality inspections.
  • Communicate effectively to management with a summary of activities on a weekly basis.
  • Oversee Sanitation Crew to ensure proper SSOP policies are being met.
  • Validate and re-evaluate the effectiveness of cleaning procedures.
  • Train the Sanitation Crew on a regular basis for proper techniques. Make sure that the sanitation schedule is strictly met.
  • Ensure that the entire facility is being strictly observed for proper sanitation, maintenance and GMPs (i.e. parking lot, trash area, warehouse, freezers, employee lockers, etc.)
  • Keep updated on the current industry standards in Food Safety and Quality Control practices and requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS Education and/or Experience:

  • Must have knowledge in Food Safety
  • Must be HACCP Certified
  • Must have SQF experience
  • 2+ years of experience in the food industry
  • Must have experience with USDA/FDA
  • Must be flexible with schedule
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel

Plant Manager

Summary: Directly supervise and coordinate the activities and department workflow in the production. Includes the direct supervision of leads, and employees. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan, establish, direct, and supervise the activities of the team members by communicating job expectations, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Works closely with supervisor/manager to meet financial goals, this will include plant efficacies, meeting production goals, driving out production costs, waste etc.
  • Complete production plans by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; and resolving problems.
  • Enforce and maintain compliance with food safety, employee safety and sanitation policies and programs.
  • Maintain workflow by monitoring steps of the process; set processing variables; observe control points; monitor personnel and resources; initiate and foster a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Provide manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answer questions and respond to requests.
  • Analyze operations data to identify opportunities and drive action to improve and resolve them,
  • Observe work and monitor gauges, dials, reports and other indicators to ensure that operators confirm to production or processing standards.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and efficient work environment by interpreting, training and directing personnel on SOP’s, best practice and company policies and procedures.
  • Request and ensure timely follow-up on equipment repairs & service.
  • Recommend and implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality and efficiency.
  • Recommend and execute personnel actions, including hiring, employee evaluations, terminations and promotions.
  • Recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.

Production Supervisor

Summary: The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

Supervisory Responsibility

This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and help hiring of the employees within that department.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Temperature conditions can be extreme dependent on outdoor temperature which will also vary the work schedule.

Technician, Processing, Inventory (Floater)

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
